BY PLANE

By its passenger numbers Rovaniemi Airport is Finland’s second largest airport and is the Official Airport of Santa Claus. The distance from the airport to the centre of Pello is just over 100 km. Finnair and Norwegian are flying to Rovaniemi Airport throughout the year and in winter-time there is a great number of direct flights from Europe to Rovaniemi Airport and to Kittilä  Airport (135 km from Pello): Ryanair, Air France, KLM, Easyjet, etc.. In winter-time many flight companies, like Ryanair, EasyJet, Air France, Turkish Airlines, are flying directly to Rovaniemi Airport, located only some 100 from Pello.

BY TRAIN

Travel to Pello by train during the winter tourist season. The railway station is located in the centre of Pello. The trip from Southern Finland to Pello, an Arctic Circle destination, is a  real winter adventure! Ask about timetables and tickets online www.vr.fi or by calling state-owned railway company VR (tel. +358 600 41 900). The last station on the railway in the north is in Kolari.

WITH YOUR OWN OR RENTAL CAR

There are excellent roads leading to Pello. Highway 21 travels through the Pello village and the border crossing point in Sweden is in the centre of Pello. The distance from Pello to Rovaniemi is around 100 km (around 110 km to Rovaniemi Airport). Using the highway, the distance to Ylitornio is 55 km, to Tornio 120 km and 135 km to Kittilä Airport . The distance from the centre of Pello to Övertorneå on the Swedish side of the border is 50 km and to Pajala around 60 km.
